Racial harassment at prep schools causes concern

A half century after the nation's most prestigious preparatory schools undertook major recruitment and aid initiatives to transform their all-white student bodies, significant numbers of blacks, Latinos, and Asians attend today, and the schools trumpet the diversity of their student body. But some minority students say the cultures of the campuses have yet to catch up with the marketing.

FROM FEBRUARY: Security remains tight on the campus of St. Paul's School in Concord, N.H., as police continued to investigate threatening letters mailed last week to most of the private prep school's black students. The identical letters, which were sent to most, if not all, of the approximately 40 black students at St. Paul's, included each student's photo from the campus facebook and the words "bang bang get out of here," students said.
