Detroit Public Schools Police say they're making a dent in crime on school campuses, particularly in the district's most frequently committed crime: student-on-student assaults. The district has released crime statistics showing attacks on other students declined from 1,186 during the first half of the 2005-06 school year, to 864 during first semester this year. Even adjusting for the district's falling population, attacks on other students have declined. There was one student-on-student assault for every 111 students during the first half of 2005, compared with one for every 121 students so far this school year.
