Student who carried out attack at high school ordered to undergo treatment

From The San Jose Mercury News: A teenager convicted of trying to kill a teacher and security guard during a 2009 attack on his high school in San Mateo, Calif., has been ordered to undergo mental health treatment. Alex Youshock, 19, is to be held at Napa State Mental Hospital for the August 2009 assault on Hillsdale High School. If doctors ever decide to release Youshock, he will have to serve a prison term of 24 years and eight months. Authorities say Youshock carried 10 pipe bombs in the tactical vest he wore the morning of the attack. The devices were to serve as backup weapons in case his chain saw didn't work. His plan was to hack the teachers to death as well as anyone else who got in his way. He set off two bombs, which didn't hurt anyone, after he failed to start his chain saw.
