Superintendent in Florida district indicted on misconduct charges

Randy Acevedo suspended from Monroe County post

From The Miami Herald: The Monroe County (Fla.) schools chief has been suspended without pay following his arrest in connection with allegations that his wife stole thousands of dollars from the school system. Randy Acevedo, 42, was indicted on a charge of official misconduct, a third-degree felony. Prosecutors allege he was involved in a cover-up of the charges against his wife. Last month, Acevedo's wife was arrested on charges she stole more than $180,000 from the adult education programs she oversaw. According to the arrest affidavit, Monique Acevedo spent the money on hundreds of personal purchases.
