Indictments snare two district administrators from Chicago suburbs

Officials with two suburban Chicago school districts are among 11 people indicted on federal fraud charges. Prosecutors say the defendants were involved in a kickback scheme orchestrated by former and current sales agents of a Des Plaines, Ill., supply company and its subsidiary. Joseph Bettuzzi, director of maintenance for Niles Elementary School District 71, and Charles Schertzing, director of maintenance for Fairview School District 72 in Skokie, each allegedly received kickbacks.
