Supporters have pledged enough money to save Detroit high school

District officials say the money needs to be in hand to pay for critical repairs.

Supporters of Mackenzie High School in Detroit say they have raised more than $2 million in pledges over six weeks to keep the school open. Now they are waiting to hear what Detroit Public Schools officials will do. District officials say the money has to be in the bank before it can commit to keeping the school open; the money is needed to make repairs on the campus this summer. District officials had told supporters it needed to raise $2 million to pay for repairs needed to keep the school open.
