Texas A&M can't resume biodefense experiments

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will not allow Texas A&M University to resume biodefense experiments by the end of this year — the timeline university officials expected when the program was suspended this summer because of security problems. A&M System Chancellor Mike McKinney says the agency has given him no indication of when the ban will be lifted, despite months of work at the university to ramp up safety in campus labs.
