Texas district gets $1 million for stadium naming rights

Conroe district opts for money over tradition.

The Conroe (Texas) district has sold the naming rights for its new football stadium to a local bank for $1 million. Board members who approved the contract with Woodforest Bank said they were torn between taking advantage of the revenue opportunity and sticking with the tradition of naming facilities to honor individuals. Some had wanted the new stadium named for a longtime football coach.
