8-year-old boy was killed last month while waiting for his Bastrop (Texas) district school bus.

The Bastrop (Texas) school district has concluded that the death of an 8-year-old boy who was hit by a pickup while waiting for his school bus on Sept. 27 could have been prevented if the boy and his family had followed the district's bus safety rules. District officials situate bus stops so that children do not have to cross the street. But Mina Elementary School second-grader Zeauntray Markeal Owens was hit about 6:15 a.m. while playing in the lane of the road that was farthest from his bus stop.
