Bastrop schools make change after complaints

From The Austin American-Statesman: The Bastrop (Texas) school district has switched its bus contractor after investigating numerous safety complaints — including allegations of equipment malfunctions such as broken speedometers, bald tires and failed brake tests — that drivers made against Durham School Services. Trustees voted to switch the $3.46 million contract to the Petermann bus company. The district’s contract with Durham stated that the bus company was responsible for vehicle maintenance. Bastrop’s five-year contract with Durham ends on July 1.
