Texas gets new education commissioner

Robert Scott is one of Governor Rick Perry's closest advisers.

Texas Gov. Rick Perry has named Robert Scott, one of his closest advisers and a powerful force at the Texas Education Agency for many years, to lead the agency as the state's education commissioner. Scott, 38, has been acting commissioner since June. He oversaw operations of the agency as chief deputy commissioner and previously served, separately, as an adviser to Perry and former Commissioner Mike Moses.
