Texas is shutting down tiny Kendleton district

One-school system has struggled academically for years
From The Houston Chronicle: Texas Education Commissioner Robert Scott has ordered the shutdown this summer of the one-campus Kendleton school district after years of academic problems. Scott has rejected the district's appeal to stay open and plans to seek final approval for closure from the U.S. Department of Justice, which must approve the action as part of the Voting Rights Act of 1965. The historically black district has one elementary school that serves 78 students this year. It will be folded into the nearby Lamar Consolidated District. Students in Kendleton already attend junior high and high school in Lamar.
