Texas public schools were 15,000 teachers short in 2011-12

From The Dallas Morning News: Texas public schools should have operated with 15,134 more teachers in 2011-12 to keep the student-teacher ratio where it was in 2010-11. Official state figures show that schools lost 10,717 teaching positions after the state aid reductions. And 4,417 additional teaching positions would have been needed to maintain the state's student-teacher ratio at 14.73 to 1.
