Texas eases up on zero-tolerance discipline policies

From The Dallas Morning News: This year, schools throughout Texas are carrying out a new state law that eases up on "zero tolerance" discipline policies. Under House Bill 171, administrators now must consider mitigating factors such as intent and self-defense when doling out punishment. In Region X, which includes Dallas and Collin counties,nearly 50,000 students were suspended from school In 2007-08.
