Towson breaks ground of Liberal Arts center

Facility will be the first new academic building on campus in 30 years.

Towson University in Towson, Md., has broken ground on a $120 million liberal arts building, the first new academic building to be constructed on campus in 30 years. The 250,000-square-foot College of Liberal Arts building will rise on the former site of the Lida Lee Tall building. Building will take place in two phases. The first phase is expected to be completed in time for the fall 2009 semester and will include three 90-seat auditoriums, three 45-seat classrooms, eight 36-seat classrooms and seven seminar rooms. The second phase, with 54 more classrooms and seminar rooms built, will begin in late 2009. The architects are Burt Hill and Ziger/Snead.
