Two Texas administrators quit after funds misspent

Keller district failed to seek bids on repair work.

Two top officials in the Keller (Texas) school district have resigned in the wake of an investigation into thousands of misspent tax dollars. Bill Stone, assistant superintendent of business operations, and Steve Levering, director of maintenance and operations, quit on Monday. The district violated state law and its own policies last year when it paid a company $75,000 for heating and air-conditioning repairs without seeking competitive bids or school board approval.
