UC San Diego house may get "historic" designation

The oceanfront University House at the University of California, San Diego, has been nominated for the National Register of Historic Places, a designation that could make it more difficult for the university to proceed with plans to demolish the 55-year-old home. The 6-0 vote by the State Historical Resources Commission found that the property is significant for both the house's architecture and the archaeological site underneath.
