University of Michigan raises $3.1 billion

TheUniversity of Michigan in Ann Arbor has raised $3.1 billion through its Michigan Difference campaign -- setting a new national record for the largest fund-raising campaign by a public university. Some of the money from the university's 364,998 donors has been placed in the university's $7.6-billion endowment, the interest earnings of which are used for student aid.
