Unequal funding for some Dallas schools puts stimulus funding at risk

April 10, 2009
District could lose up to $135 million in aid unless it makes funding more equitable

From The Dallas Morning News: The Dallas school district will have to cut funding at 34 campuses or risk losing up to $135 million in federal aid and stimulus money. Per-pupil spending at the campuses is not equitable, and millions in funding could be lost next school year because of it. Most of the schools considered to be overfunded are specialized campuses, such as learning centers and a few vanguards, academies and magnet schools. Most of the specialized campuses were created under the district's desegregation order that ended in 2003.
