Armed man commits suicide on Connecticut campus

From The New London Day: An armed gunman has killed himself on the University of Connecticut Avery Point campus in Groton. Police have not disclosed the man's identity, but say he was not a student. Authorities talked with the man, who was described as despondent, but were unable to get him to put down his weapon. No college students were on campus during the incident; a group of high school students who are in a summer program was on campus were guarded by university police while the incident was happening.
