From The Detroit Free Press: Hundreds of people banned for life from University of Michigan property may get legal clearance by the end of the summer to set foot on campus. The university has revised a policy that allowed campus police the discretion to ban people from campus for life. Under the new policy, which takes effect July 1, those bans will last only for a year. After the year, the university's police chief will have the ability to let the ban lapse or extend it for another year. Because of the change, police are reviewing the 1,800 adults and 200 juveniles now banned. Police expect that by the end of the summer, bans on about 900 people will be dropped.
