University of St. Joseph in West Hartford, Conn., plans expansion of special-needs lab school

$3 million donation from university trustee will help pay for new wing at The Gengras Center

From The Hartford Courant: A $3 million donation from University of St. Joseph trustee E. Clayton "Skip" Gengras Jr., has launched a fundraising effort for The Gengras Center, a laboratory school at the university in West Hartford, Conn., for children with intellectual and other disabilities. The project will add an 18,000-square-foot wing to The Gengras Center; it will include a gym, music and art rooms, a vocational center, and classrooms designed for children with autism and behavioral problems. The donation is the largest gift the university has ever received.
