University of Texas system will conduct formal review of 14 campus police departments

From The Dallas Morning News: The University of Texas System will conduct a formal review of its campus police departments given recent problems at some campuses. UT System officials will form a panel to examine day-to-day operations at its 14 campus police departments. The police department at UT-Dallas has been rocked by allegations that its former police chief, Colleen Ridge, used a state-leased vehicle for personal use, made unauthorized purchases and used state resources to benefit her side business. Ridge denies the charges and resigned in May. UT-San Antonio’s police chief, David Hernandez, resigned in July after an employee complained of sexual harassment. Last year, UT-Pan American’s police chief, Howard Miller, was fired after an internal investigation.
