University of Utah unveils plan to eliminate its carbon footprint

From The Salt Lake Tribune: The University of Utah has unveiled an ambitious plan to erase the university’s carbon footprint by 2050. Titled Energy and Environmental Stewardship Initiative: 2010 Climate Action Plan, the 56-page document outlines strategies to soften its impact through reduction of solid waste, curbing energy and water consumption, investing in renewable energy, discouraging personal vehicle use, installing high-efficiency fixtures in renovations and new construction, and paying for carbon offsets.
