Building upgrade will help University of Washington Tacoma lure restaurants

From The Tacoma News-Tribune: The University of Washington Tacoma is spending between $300,000 and $350,000 to install infrastructure needed to lure restaurants to the newly renovated Joy Building in the city's downtown. The building’s $25.3 million renovation was completed in 2011. The school had considered converting the ground-floor space into classrooms and offices, but surrounding retailers wanted the space to be set aside for more businesses. The university envisioned boutiques in the space, but found that says prospective tenants wanted the space for restaurants. The upgrades will enable the ground-floor space to handle special equipment, particularly vent hoods and grease traps.
