4 elementary schools to close in Utica (Mich.) district

From The Detroit News: The Utica (Mich.) Community School Board has decided to close four elementary schools to help reduce a $33 million budget shortfall. Closing Ewell, Magahay, Rose Kidd and Walsh elementaries is expected to save $3.1 million.

MARCH 2010...from The Detroit Free Press: The Utica district, Michigan's second-largest school system, is considering closing four elementary schools next year. A citizens group has suggested shuttering Ewell, Rose Kidd, Magahay and Walsh in the 2010-11 school year. The district faces a $33 million budget deficit.
