University of Wisconsin-Stout signs deal to continue laptop program

The University of Wisconsin-Stout has announced a $20 million, four-year contract with Hewlett-Packard and will continue giving laptop computers to students under the e-Scholar program. Each undergraduate student at the Menomonie, Wis., university gets a laptop and software. The cost is included in tuition. About 14,000 laptops will be leased during the contract, which includes computer services and support. Students also receive computer training and equipment, e-mail and Web page space. They get wireless and wired Internet connections on campus.
