Violence at New York City high schools underreported

City audit of 10 schools found more than one in five episodes were not reported to the state.

The New York City comptroller says some large high schools in the city failed to notify the state of a significant number of violent or disruptive episodes in the 2004-5 school year. An audit found that on average, more than one in five episodes at the 10 schools studied were not reported to the state
