At least 33 new schools will be needed in Wake County, N.C., in the next decade

From The Raleigh News & Observer: Wake County (N.C.) school district administrators say that at least 33 new schools need to be built by 2020 to keep up with student enrollment. Administrators avoided giving dollar estimates, but based on current construction estimates, it would conservatively cost more than $1 billion to build that many schools. That price tag doesn't include the hundreds of millions of dollars that also will be needed to renovate aging schools. Projections show that an additional 60,000 students are expected in Wake schools by 2020.
