City returns to court to try to block work on Conner Creek Academy East

Attorneys for the City of Warren, Mich., are returning to court to ask a Macomb County judge to block the construction of a charter school. The city wants to halt construction of Conner Creek Academy East. The judge last week granted the school the right to proceed with construction.

EARLIER: Michigan's Superintendent of Public Instruction is expected to decide the fate of a charter school's plans to construct a new $11 million facility in Warren. Under an agreement reached by attorneys for Conner Creek Academy East and state and city officials, the superintendent is supposed to issue his final decision on the charter school's site plans by Friday. Conner Creek Academy East sued last month to clear the way for construction of a 61,000-square-foot school building.
