A new $11 million charter school is ready to open Sept. 2 inWarren, Mich., despite ongoing legal battles with the city over potential traffic congestion. The 61,000-square-foot school will be called Michigan Collegiate. It will house middle and high school students who attend the existing Conner Creek Academy East, which has two facilities in Roseville. Conner Creek's elementary students will remain in Roseville. The city of Warren is trying to stop the building from opening because officials believe it's too big for the size of the parcel it's on and will generate too much traffic for the area.
