Wayne State restores university's police station

Gleaming stainless steel and bullet-resistant glass stand alongside textured brick walls and wood-and-marble staircases in Wayne State University's new police station in Detroit. But for all the classic touches, it's a technologically advanced headquarters on the north end of its campus. The 84-year-old building, designed by Albert Kahn, has now been entirely restored. And the integration of new features, such as an improved surveillance system, more secure areas for officers and remote-controlled toilets in lockup, brings it all together.
