College of William and Mary is removing landline phones from student housing

The College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Va., says it is eliminating telephone lines in its residence hall rooms. Officials say a survey shows students living on campus are relying on their cell phones for outside communication rather than land lines provided in student housing. The change will save the school thousands of dollars, which it plans to use to improve cell-phone reception and Internet connections.
