Wilmer-Hutchins schools rebound after being absorbed into Dallas school system

April 10, 2012
State of Texas shut down the struggling Wilmer-Hutchins district 6 years ago

From The Texas Tribune: When the state of Texas closed the Wilmer-Hutchins school district six years ago, the district was like the region’s unwanted stepchild —few neighboring districts wanted to absorb students from the low-performing schools. Now, the area, which has become part of the Dallas Independent School District, appears to be on the verge of academic transformation. It has three new campuses, including a high school that is attracting students from all over the area.
