From The Charlotte Observer: Wingate University in Wingate, N.C., has plans for a $5 million educational center in Matthews, N.C., that will vastly expand its presence in the town. The educational center, the largest investment for the university outside Wingate, is set to open in 2013 on an 8-acre site. The private university has more than 2,300 students in Wingate and Matthews; about 500 students use the site the university rents in downtown Matthews.
