Fifteen Colleges Dropped From Climate Commitment Initiative

The American College & University Presidents’ Climate Commitment has dropped 15 higher-education institutions from its list of participating schools.

Second Nature, a non-profit organization that helps facilitate participation and compliance with the Climate Commitment, says that the 15 schools had not complied with the reporting guidelines of the commitment.

The institutions missed deadlines for submitting an implementation profile; for providing a greenhouse gas emissions inventory; and for creating a climate action plan.

"It is important for this initiative to continue to grow, and if institutions are neither participating, nor reporting on their progress, it does a disservice to the entire network to keep them on the list," says Anthony Cortese, president of Second Nature.
