The Brandywine (Del.) School District has received a $570,000 grant from the U.S.Environmental Protection Agency to reduce emissions on 67 of its diesel school buses. The money will enable the school system to install exhaust-filtering devices on the vehicles. The district expects the filters will reduce bus emissions between 60 percent and 90 percent. The district’s buses transport about 8,000 students a day.
