University of Florida hopes ride-sharing program will ease campus traffic concerns

In an effort to reduce traffic on its Gainesville campus, the University of Florida
has introduced a web-based ride-sharing program called GreenRide. The
system enables users to find riding partners who live near them and
have similar class schedules, destinations and transportation
preferences. It also helps users find park-and-ride lots, and bus, rail
and bicycle routes.
Initially, the program is available for faculty
and staff, but if it catches on, it could be extended to students. John
Gartner, a consultant, says that in its first four months of
operations, GreenRide had 191 university employees sign up.
