Student gets Houston district to switch to "green" lunch trays

After getting chewed out by a 10-year-old for using environmentally unfriendly lunch trays, the Houston Independent School District has agreed to go a little greener. The school board is expected vote to spend an extra $160,000 on about 12.5 million biodegradable trays for elementary students this coming school year. Secondary schools will follow in coming months. The new trays take about nine months to decompose, compared with the hundreds of years it takes other polystyrene trays to break down
