Augusta State University, Augusta, Ga., opened its first housing component at the university in the 2005-2006 school year.

Situated on 23 acres, University Village features apartment-style living, a gated community and five garden-style apartment buildings spanning the perimeter of a common green area. Additional amenities include a clubhouse with game room, computer lab and laundry facility, resort-style pool and sun deck, sand volleyball court, outdoor picnic area with grills and several miles of enclosed walking trails.

University Village offers 162 two- and four-bedroom units with a total of 508 beds. Each apartment is furnished and has a common living area and private bedrooms.

Each apartment also includes a refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, smoke alarms and a monitored intrusion alarm system.

The architect is Niles Bolton & Associates (Atlanta). The developer is Ambling University Development Group (Valdosta, Ga.).
