Xavier High School in New York City has completed a $11.7 million addition that is on the first six floors of a 25-story mixed-use building.

The 45,000-square-foot Fernandez-Duminuco Hall is the first campus expansion at Xavier in more than 90 years, school officials say. The space consists of classrooms and large common spaces with special emphasis on robotics and music education.

The addition is adjacent to Xavier's existing buildings on the Manhattan campus and is connected to one of them on floors two, three and five.

The hall is situated within a 170,000-square-foot, 330-foot-tall, 55-unit residential condominium tower.

The architect for Fernandez-Duminuco Hall is Beyer Blinder Belle and the construction manager is Richter+Ratner.
