Hofstra University in Hempstead, N.Y., says that it will break ground soon on a 50,000-square-foot facility for the Zarb School of Business.
Newsday reports that construction on the $25 building is set to begin in the spring or early summer and is expected to open in 2018.
“The Zarb school will have one central, large, integrated space to call home,” says Hofstra University President Stuart Rabinowitz.
The business school was established in September 1965 and celebrated its first graduating class in May 1966.
The new building will feature faculty and administrative offices, a student lounge, classrooms and collaborative work spaces. It will abut the C.V. Starr building and replace Weller Hall, which houses faculty and administrative offices.
The business school was named in 1994 in honor of alumnus and former Nasdaq chairman Frank Zarb, who received his bachelor’s degree and master’s of business administration at Hofstra.
