The California State Board of Education has authorized a vote in the city of Carson on whether to remove itself from the Los Angeles Unified School District.

The California State Board of Education has authorized a vote in the city of Carson on whether to remove itself from the Los Angeles Unified School District. A group backing the effort hopes to get the measure on the June ballot. If successful, a new Carson Unified School District would serve about 21,500 students. Several other groups are pushing proposals to get out of L.A. Unified.
