Best recycling campuses

These colleges and universities that took part in the RecycleMania competition had the highest percentage of waste that was recycled.

Some 350 colleges and universities from 48 states took part in the 2016 RecycleMania competition, in which the schools try to outdo one another in the amount of materials they recycle over two months.

Between Feb. 7 and April 2, the participating campuses recycled or composted 79.3 million pounds of recyclables and organic materials. The grand champion for 2016 is Richland College in Dallas, Texas, which recycled nearly 82 percent of overall waste on campus.
