Higher-education institutions that raised the most funds in 2016

Harvard University tops the lists of universities that received the largest amount of charitable contributions.

Harvard University in Cambridge, Mass., received the most charitable contributions of any U.S. higher-education institution, a survey from the Council for Aid to Education has found.

The $1.19 billion received by Harvard surpasses the $951 million raised by Stanford University. In 2015, Stanford topped the list with $1.63 billion, and Harvard was second with $1.05 billion.
