States with highest percentage growth in college enrollment numbers

Overall, U.S. college enrollment declined in 2016, but these states reported an increase in the number of college and university students.

Higher-education enrollment declined by 1.4 percent from 2015 to 2016, according to estimates from the National Student Clearinghouse Research Center.

But some states did report an increase in student numbers. New Hampshire reported that largest percentage increase—17.2 percent.


Here are the 10 states that had the highest percentage growth in students enrolled in fall 2016 in degree-granting colleges and universities.
