States with the most students who are American Indian or Alaska Native

The National Indian Education Study 2015, released this week, says that 522,813 American Indian/Alaska Native students were enrolled in U.S. public elementary and secondary schools. That equates to little more than 1 percent of the 50 million students attending public schools in the nation. Here are the 10 states identified in the report as having the greatest numbers of American Indian/Alaska Native students.
