States projected to have the fastest public elementary and secondary school enrollment growth 2011-23

Anticipated growth in the western and southern parts of the United State will account for most of the increase in student numbers.

Enrollment in public elementary and secondary schools is projected to grow by 5.2 percent from fall 2011 to fall 2023, according to the National Center for Education Statistics' Digest of Education Statistics 2013.

Above-average growth is expected in the West (10.2 percent) and South (8.4 percent); student numbers are project to decline in the Northeast (-2 percent) and the Midwest (-0.6 percent).

Here are the 10 states projected to have the greatest percentage increase in student enrollment over those 12 years.
