The Danville (Ill.) school board has approved a $10.6 million contract for an addition at Northeast Elementary Magnet School.
The Danville Commercial News reports that expansion plans for the school call for two additional classrooms, a new gymnasium and music room, additional restrooms, storage and office space. Other changes will create a more secure front entrance,
District officials say inflation has caused costs to climb $3 million over an estimate from about two years ago.
Funding for the addition comes from the district’s $31.5 million in Covid-19 relief money.
