Trustees of the New York Institute of Technology approved an agreement to commit approximately $4 million for renovations to Arkansas State University building, which will house a new College of Osteopathic Medicine. The new building will be part of NYIT’s efforts to steer medical professionals to an area of the country where they are needed, according to the Island Now. Currently, there is only one medical school in the state of Arkansas, and no osteopathic medical school in the state. Osteopathic physicians are automatically licensed to practice medicine and to perform surgery in every state.
